Setting
Hartham Manor is set in the English countryside in modern time (sometime post 2015). Most characters will be either from or living in the United Kingdom. The exact year will not be important to the story, so while the characters may make modern pop-culture references or talk about people who exist in our time, we wish to avoid conversation about modern politics and events.

In our world and time, discrimination based on gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity and many other factors are of course very much a reality. As discrimination is not a theme we wish to highlight at this larp, this is not something we will focus on. The characters will be written to be generally accepting of others, although they may be horrible in many other ways, they will not disciminate on the basis of the factors mentioned above.

The characters will be of varying ages, genders and sexualities. You will be able to give preferences on these things in the sign-up form and some characters can be adjusted based on these preferences.

Technology
As the larp is set in modern times, things like computers and smartphones obviously exist and most of the characters will have them. As we do not want these to feature too heavily in the story, the characters will have been asked by the Caretaker to leave any computers at home. They can bring their smartphones, however they will be informed there is no internet and no service at the manor, as such their smartphones will at best function as cameras. As a player, you may bring your phone into the game-area, but we ask you limit how much you use it. In your room (while OFF) you may of course use your phone or any other technology as much as you want.

Workshops
We will have on site workshops before the larp so everyone gets a chance to talk about pre-existing relationships between the characters, as well as go through techniques.

Three acts
The larp will be played in three acts - Establishing, Escalation, Resolution (these are not the actual names we will be using but gives an idea of what we intend). We will go through the different acts and how they will affect play in information send outs as well as on site before the larp.

Debrief
After the larp we will have a structured debrief as well as time to decompress together off-game.
